Aspen is way too expensive for my inspirational needs, LOL! I like to get as far away from people as I can get–the deserts of southern Utah are unequaled for inpirational environment. The outdoors is my sanctuary. A lot cheaper, too.

I get a lot of my inspiration while lying in bed in the early mornings and running my thoughts wild. I process my ideas and then move to commit them to writing. Most times, my pen struggles to keep up with the speed of the thought flow and that leads to gaps in my write up. I go on anyway. Later on, I carefully go through my work. As the missing thoughts gradually return, I plug the holes. Next step, I prune the literature looking out for and correcting bad expressions, straightening narrations, checking facts/figures/cited dates, adding figures of speech, and all the other fancy stuff that make for a good literary piece. Review. Proof read. Put it away. Review again the next day. That’s it!

The actual writing is usually done sitting on my bed or sofa, but the inspiration and draft of the speech takes places first in my mind, and that usually happens when I am out driving, or out in nature. A walk along the beach or in the woods can inspire me more than anything.
